It’s nice to spend your college years in a bustling city with a lot to do… but there’s something to be said for being by the beach.
After all, you aren’t going to be studying all the time. Wouldn’t it be nice to spend your spare time on the beach getting a nice tan, playing volleyball or just going for a refreshing swim?
Thousands and thousands of students think so, as they tend to go to the best colleges by the beach:
Most people have probably never heard of Endicott, because it isn’t a huge school. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t an awesome school to go to.
Found in Beverly, MA, Endicott has a few private beaches that only students and faculty can use. This is a very nice benefit, as it means you don’t have to worry about weirdos or lots of small kids bombarding the beach.
University of San Diego
San Diego has it all. You can enjoy the city life, get to decent skiing places within a day of driving, and some of the best beaches in the world. If you’ve ever met someone who said they didn’t like San Diego, you were probably in the middle of a dream.
The only downside to the University of San Diego is that once you get off-campus, life gets more expensive. Because it’s such a desirable place to live, the cost of living in San Diego is pretty high- even compared to the major metropolitan areas of the country.
University of Hawaii at Manoa
One word says it all- Hawaii.
Even though Hawaii isn’t a perfect place to live, it’s definitely a great place to go to school.
Think about it- the only real downside to Hawaii is the huge amount of people living there. The roadways aren’t great, so traffic tends to get pretty bad at rush hour.
But as a student, you don’t have to travel to work. As long as you live on campus or very close by, you will have it made.
Texas A&M at Corpus Christi
Calling itself “the island university”, it’s understandable why students want to go here. The area is surrounded by wetlands, and is also home to the largest beach in Texas- East Beach.
The only thing to keep in mind is that Texas is a “love-it-or-hate-it” kind of state. People who move there either fall in love with it and never want to leave, or they dislike it and can’t wait to get out of there.
Palm Beach Atlantic University
Right on the water, you can’t beat the types of views you get from campus! How many other universities are close enough to the water that you can easily hit the waves during lunch or if you have a break between classes? Not many.
If you are into snorkeling or scuba diving, this is a great option. Not all beaches are good for these activities, but Palm Beach is one of the best you’ll find.
